Korean sales powerhouse Finecut will handle “Obsessed,” a steamy romance from Kim Dae-woo, writer of “Untold Scandal.”
The pic gets a wide release today in South Korea through hard-charging indie distributor Next Entertainment World.
Recently launched Hong Kong-based sales and distribution company Bravos Pictures became the first overseas company to sign up for the rights. Bravos will handle in Hong Kong and Macau.
Starring Song Seung-heon (“A Better Tomorrow”) as an elite officer returning from the Vietnam War, the story follows his obsessively fatal love affair.
In a separate deal, “Rough Play,” produced by auteur Kim Ki-duk, was sold to Sundream Entertainment for Hong Kong and Macau, as was Kim’s 2013 Venice shocker “Moebius.” Other recent deals on “Rough Play” include sales to Japan (Klockworx) and Malaysia & Brunei (Hwa Yea Multimedia).
Kim’s latest directorial effort “One on One” gets a release in South Korea next week, but Finecut said the director will re-cut the film for international release.
