CANNES: First Image of French Motion-Capture

Pathe’s adventure comedy “Evolution Man,” budgeted at $48 million, is shaping up to be one of the biggest French releases of 2015. The directorial debut of popular French comic Jamel Debbouze, “Man” is billed as Europe’s first motion-capture project.

Set 2 million years ago, it stars Debbouze as a young ape-man who inadvertently discovers walking, then fire and hunting and, um, ultimately evolves.

Producer Pathe will distribute the pic in France and is selling international rights.
