Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has bought most international markets to Amy Adams’ upcoming sci-fi project “Story of Your Life.”

The SPWA deal was closed at Cannes on the heels of Paramount buying North American and Chinese rights to the film, to be directed by Denis Villenueve from Eric Heisserer’s adaptation of a Ted Chiang short story.

Adams will play a linguist in the military who attempts to hold a dialogue with alien  invaders. Rights are repped by FilmNation internationally.

Production companies are FilmNation, Lava Bear Pictures and 21 Laps.

Sony will distribute the film in all territories except for the U.K., where eOne will handle, Australia (Village Roadshow), India (Reliance), Israel (Shani Films) and the Middle East, Greece and Turkey (Italia).

The news was first reported by THR.

Dunno for sure about other countries but data for India appears false! India media has reported it was released by a foreign indie-film distributor named ‘MVP Entertainment®’, rather DreamWorks®’ former owner and one of Amblin®’s current “partners”, Reliance Entertainment®. 😑

P.S. Phew…!!! This comment got [barely] saved…!!! Thanks to Variety®’s comment-plugin, else this sh––ty smartphone coupled with ‘Chrome® for Android®’ have already frustrated me by making me spend so much time into correctly typing comments. 😣
Also, kudos for your banner-ads policy, it helps in avoiding accidental-clicks while typing.

Both of which are not present commonly, Very Rare! 👍 👏👏👏👏 😊
