Voltage will launch sales at Cannes.
Music video and TV director Joe Miale will direct the project, a story of humankind’s last stand against a cataclysmic alien invasion that’s set in the war-ravaged African countryside.
Russell will portray an American soldier and Marlohe will play a French foreign aid worker who team up to survive the alien onslaught. The film will begin production in September on location in South Africa.
Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones is producing alongside 42’s Rory Aitken and Ben Pugh, and Tea Shop & Film Company’s James Harris. Zev Foreman and Nicolas Chartier will also be producing for Voltage.
Voltage’s slate at Cannes includes Eli Roth’s horror film “Knock Knock,” starring Keanu Reeves; dance film “Breaking Through,” executive produced by John Legend; and “Good Kids,” which Voltage is producing with the Weitz Brothers in the fall.
Russell is repped by UTA in the U.S. and by Natasha Harrison at United Management in Australia. Marlohe is repped by Kate Buckley at 42. Miale is repped by UTA and Scott Carr at Management SGC.
