Bill Murray is this week’s Variety cover story, and he sat down with the magazine for a rare interview and photo shoot.
Murray, who has in recent years rarely appeared on magazine covers, spoke to Variety about his latest role in the Weinstein Co’s “St. Vincent,” which is generating Oscar buzz for the actor. Murray also opened up about fame, how he chooses parts, why he doesn’t employ a manager (or use Twitter), his viral selfies with fans and his decision to step away from the movie-star track after the 1980s “Ghostbusters” franchise.
The cover story is written by Variety’s Ramin Setoodeh, and the photo shoot is from New York photographer Martin Schoeller. Murray suggested the religion-themed cover pose himself. Many of Murray’s friends contributed anecdotes, including Sofia Coppola, Cameron Crowe, Harvey Weinstein, Naomi Watts, Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd.
