Berlin: TrustNordisk Lures Buyers With Berlinale Special Gala player ‘Someone You Love’

Deals include Australia, China, Spain and Korea

As Berlin kicks off, TrustNordisk has closed a flurry of early deals on Pernille Fischer Christensen’s emotional drama “Someone You Love,” which will world-preem in the Berlinale Special Gala section.

“Love” lured Madman Entertainment (Australia and New Zealand), Golem (Spain and Andorra), Wildbunch (Benelux), Atnine (Korea), Turkey and Umut Sanat Filmcilik (Cyprus) and Edko Films (Hong Kong).

The high-profile Scandi cast includes Mikael Persbrandt (“The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug”), Trine Dyrholm (“A Royal Affair”) and Birgitte Hjort Sorensen (“Borgen”). Story centers around Pernille Fischer Christensen’s rendition of an emotional drama about a self-contained musician who gets a chance to redeem himself when a tragic incident turns his life upside down.

“When I first saw ‘Someone You Love,’ it affected me deeply. Pernille Fischer Christensen has with this film touched the core sentiment of being human,” said says Rikke Ennis, TrustNordisk CEO. I believe that this is her most universal work to date and the sales to key distributors underlines the films quality and Fischer Christensen huge talent as a director. We have great expectations for the films sales potential in Berlin.”

Pic is written by Pernille Fischer Christensen and Kim Fupz Aakeson and produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Vinca Wiedemann for Zentropa Entertainments16 ApS. It’s co-produced by Zentropa International Sweden, Film I Väst and FilmFyn.

“Love” will open in Berlin on the 11th and will be released in Scandinavia on April 24 by Nordisk Film Distribution.
