Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and director Zack Snyder surprised Comic-Con audiences on Saturday morning with the first footage of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Superman’s red eyes stared down Batman’s phosphorescent white ones in the teaser from Warner Bros. Batman, played by Affleck, unveiled his newest night sky bat sign, and as the camera moved, Superman, played by Cavill, hovered in its way, frothing and red eyes ablaze.

Awkward silence and brooding ensues, but the packed house of 6,500 loved it so much that moderator Chris Hardwick played the footage again. Affleck and Cavill walked out onstage shortly after alongside Snyder and Gadot, who plays Wonderwoman.

“We have to go back to finish the movie,” he before exiting with the actors. Aside from Synder’s remarks about filming, no one offered commentary from the stage in Hall H.

Right before the presentation, Snyder released the first photo of Gadot as Wonder Woman, ready to battle. DC Entertainment offered up a new image of Affleck as Batman on Thursday.

  1. Michelangelo says:

This movie is going to be awful. Three people who cannot act. What other outcome can we expect.

    Gal’s looking BAD ASS!!

  3. Steve says:

Ryan, while the footage was shown in Hall H, I don’t believe the studio has released it for online viewing just yet. Probably show up any day.

  4. Ryan says:

    So…where’s the footage?

  5. GJT says:

See…this is why Christopher Nolan’s stuff (as opposed to others) works, all his designs have ‘functionality’, the (Bale) Batman suit was a modified ‘combat’ suit…I’m just curious how this incarnation of Xena…sorry, Wonder Woman (easy to get confused right?) is supposed to fight in thigh high, high heeled boots?

    • Samuel says:

Anna Hathaway’s Catwoman managed just fine in thigh-high, high heeled boots, so I’m sure Wonder Woman will be okay.

    • Essie says:

Maybe she has a special ‘fighting costume’ like Thor does. Either way, it’s all fantasy and fun.

Not sure if “surprise” is the word but DC is bringing out the big guns.
