Company expanding from digital marketing and international sales into theatrical releasing.
HONG KONG – Australian film sales and digital marketing outfit Screenlaunch is poised to move into theatrical distribution.
The company plans to release two Australian-produced films “Touch” (pictured), which will have its premiere at next week’s Sydney Film Festival, and urban drama “Skin Deep.” The company expects to have both films in cinemas in early 2015.
“Traditionally, it’s difficult to get screen time in the cinemas for independents. However we are making this commitment because we believe with a steady supply of good Australian films, the audiences will drive more screens. ‘Touch’ and ‘Skin Deep’ contribute strong female stories and leads, but both have central themes that relate to a wide range of people,” said CEO of ScreenLaunch Ross Howden in a statement.
“Touch” follows a woman and her daughter who are stalked by a mystery man through the Adelaide Hills. It is directed by Christopher Houghton and produced by Triptych Pictures.
“Skin Deep” is a topical examination of a young woman diagnosed with terminal melanoma who discovers the courage to embrace life. It is directed by Jon Leahy and stars Elizabeth Blackmore (“Evil Dead”.)
Screenlaunch currently focuses on digital forms of sales, distribution, finance and production. According to Howden it offers “new methods of community distribution, streamlining revenue returns and maximising audience exposure.”
