Action-comedy shooting in Los Angeles

Aubrey Plaza, Oliver Platt and Jeff Goldblum have joined Johnny Depp’s action comedy “Mortdecai,” currently  shooting in Los Angeles.

The film, based on the three-novel anthology by Kyril Bonfiglioli, had wrapped its London shoot.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn and Paul Bettany are also starring. David Koepp is directing from a screenplay by Eric Aronson.

Andrew Lazar, Depp, Christi Dembrowski and OddLot’s Gigi Pritzker are producing the project. “Mortdecai” is the first project between Lionsgate and OddLot Entertainment as part of a multiyear, multipicture co-financing and distribution deal.

Depp is portraying Charles Mortdecai, an antihero art dealer and part-time rogue who is in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi loot.

Plaza stars in “Parks and Recreation” and recently starred in the indie comedy “The To Do List.” Her feature “Life After Beth” will screen at Sundance.
