Amy Adams to be Honored at Costume Designers Guild Awards

Michael Wilkinson’s sexy costume designs stole the show in “American Hustle,” so it seems appropriate that Amy Adams, one of the film’s stars, will be lauded during his guild’s awards gala.

The thesp, who is a contender for a lead actress Oscar, will be honored with the Spotlight Award at the annual Costume Designers Guild Awards on Feb. 22 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Wilkinson, who is nominated for a CDGA in the period film category, said in a Variety exclusive clip of the film that working on “Hustle” was a costume designer’s “dream” and that “being presented with characters like this is the biggest gift.”

It probably helped that the actors seemed to understand his vision.

“Everyone’s exterior is helping to inform their interior,” Adams said in the same clip. “Their wardrobe is part of their armor.”

The Spotlight Award is sponsored by Lacoste. Anne Hathaway was last year’s recipient.
