Cannes: Synergetic Mines Irish 'Gold'

Indie distributor Synergetic has acquired North American rights to “Gold,” an off-beat comedy set in an affluent suburb of Dublin.

David Wilmot (“Six Shooter”) leads a name cast of Kerry Condon (“This Must Be the Place,” James Nesbitt (“The Hobbit,” “Bloody Sunday”) and Maisie Williams, above, Arya Stark in “Game of Thrones.

Niall Heery (“Small Engine Repair,” “Summit”) directs.

Written by Brendan and Niall Heery, “Gold” turns on a father seeking to reconnect with his estranged daughter (“Williams) and wife (Kerry Condon). Instead, he sews chaos.

“Gold” is produced by Subotica Films (“Song For a Raggy Boy,” “Perfect Sense”), a classic Irish production house, in association with Gloucester Place Films.

Subotica’s Tristan and Aoife O’Sullivan take producer credits.
