Cannes: Search Engine Gets Investment Fuel

Cannes: News

Canadian distributor Search Engine Films has received a seven-figure investment from Abbolita Films, aimed at expanding Search Engine’s distribution operations.

Search Engine, founded last year by president John Bain, plans to be actively buying at Cannes. Abbolita, chaired by founder Tim Nye, has producing credits on “Life After Beth” and “Life of Crime,” the closing night film at Toronto last year.

“Tim Nye’s extensive digital experience and financial muscle is the fuel Search Engine needed to jump to the next level,” Bain said. “We are now poised to take advantage of changing technology to reach audiences in all media.”
Bain is a former senior VP for Maple Pictures and held a variety of positions with Lionsgate.
