‘Two Thumbs Up’ Gets Go Ahead

Hong Kong crime thriller is a steal.

An ingenious robbery, exciting car chases and a police impersonation form the backbone of Emperor Motion Pictures’ latest crime thriller “Two Thumbs Up.”

Details were unveiled on Tuesday (March 25), the second day of FilMart.

Directed by Hong Kong’s Lau Ho-leung, “Two Thumbs Up” focuses on a gangster fresh out of prison (Francis Ng) who comes up with a robbery scheme that involves transforming a minibus into a vehicle that appears to be from the Emergency Unit of the Hong Kong police.

To execute a plan to rob a cash delivery truck, Ng’s character then enlists the help of three fellow gangsters, played by veteran Hong Kong actors Simon Yam, Patrick Tam and Mark Cheng.

The budget of the film is pegged at about $3.5 million, according Hong Kong studio group EMP which is both financier and distributor of the film.

Release is currently scheduled for the third quarter of 2014.
