New Polish films get their spotlight during Polish Days at the New Horizons Intl. Film Festival.
Pics from some of the hottest local helmers will unspool July 30-Aug. 1 for some 150 industry guests, including festival programmers from Berlin and Cannes, and buyers across Europe and Asia.
Six completed Polish films and ten works-in-progress will be shown at closed screenings, while eleven projects will be pitched to the international audience.
The finished films include two films that will compete in the New Horozons Competition: “How to Disappear Completely,” pictured above, by Przemysław Wojcieszek, and “Calling” by Marcin Dudziak. Other finished films in Polish Days include “15 Corners of the World”by Zuzanna Solakiewicz, which will have its world premiere in the Films on Art International Competition at the New Horizons fest; pic will then play in the Settimana della Critica section of the Locarno fest in August; “Gods” by Lukasz Palkowski, “Call Me Marianna” by Karolina Bielawska, “Performer” by Lukasz Ronduda and Maciej Sobieszczanski
Projects in development presented in the pitching session include, among others, “Hungry” by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, “I’m the Killer” by Maciej Pieprzyca, “Volhynia”byWojciech Smarzowski, “Window” by Anna Jadowska, “Rosa” by Denijal Hasanović and “Toxaemia” by Julia Kolberger.
This year, for the first time, two projects presented in the section will be awarded with post-production awards given by Polish Days’ new partners: post-production houses Toya Studios and Chimney Poland.
The works in progress section will show clips from “And There Was Love in the Ghetto” by Jolanta Dylewska and Andrzej Wajda, “Carte Blanche” by Jacek Lusinski, “Journey to Rome” by Tomasz Mielnik, “I, Olga Hepnarova” by Tomas Weinreb and Petr Kazda, “The Here After” by Magnus van Horn, “Walser” by Zbigniew Libera and “Close Ups” by Magdalena Piekorz, among others.
The New Horizons Intl. Film Festival runs July 24-Aug. 3 in Wroclaw, Poland.
