Haut et Court is moving forward on “Mediator” (working title), a medical thriller centering on Gaul’s own Erin Brockovich, a pneumonologist from Brittany called Irene Frachon.
Emmanuelle Bercot (pictured), who’s been working on-and-off on the project since 2011, will be directing.
Penned by Severine Bosschem and Bercot, the film will follow the journey of Frachon, who uncovered one of France’s biggest medical scandals in recent years, revealing the deathly damage caused by the diabetic drug Mediator before it was finally banned.
The script will be based on Frachon’s book “Mediator 150 mg, combien de morts.”
Bercot’s screenwriting credits include Maiwenn’s Cannes’ jury-prize winning “Polisse” (which she co-wrote), and previously helmed the Catherine Deneuve starrer “On My Way,” a 2012 Berlin player.
