Writer Bob Nelson Grateful to See ‘Nebraska’

Bob Nelson finished his screenplay for “Nebraska” in 2002, and watched it sit on a shelf for years until Alexander Payne finally set to filming. Yet for Nelson, simply seeing the finished product was recompense enough.

“I still have relatives in Nebraska, so it’s the most personal of my scripts,” he says. “I took my parents to see the shooting, and it was amazing to see Bruce Dern and June Squibb shooting a scene that I wrote.”
