Korea Box Office: ‘My Bride,’ Ahead of ‘Dracula’ in Slow Week

HONG KONG — Local romantic comedy “My Love, My Bride” topped the Korean box office in its opening week, ahead of fellow opener “Dracula Untold.”

All figures were generally down in a week that followed the previous weekend’s boost from the public holiday.

“My Love,” a remake of a 1990 title, earned $5.94 million including previews, and $3.71 million over the strictly defined Friday-Sunday weekend, from 629 screens. “Dracula” earned $2.69 million on the weekend, from 477 screens, and $4.36 million since its first outings.

The two newcomers relegated last week’s chart topper “The Informant” to third place. It took $1.96 million on the weekend and has a cumulative total of $9.34 million.

Fox Korea’s local comedy “Slow Movie” (aka ‘Slow Video”) managed $1.15 million for a cumulative of $7.47 million.

Local thriller, “Manhole” charted in eighth spot with a disappointing $837,000 from 286 screens.

Zhang Yimou’s “Coming Home,” which had a gala presentation in Korea at last week’s Busan film festival, earned $79,000 and managed only 14th place from 86 screens.
