Jack Neo is to direct action comedy "Ah Boys To Frogmen," the third instalment in his hit "Ah Boys to Men" feature franchise.

HONG KONGSingapore showman Jack Neo is to direct action comedy “Ah Boys To Frogmen,” the third instalment in his hit “Ah Boys to Men” feature franchise.

Production gets underway in July 2014, with Chinese New Year (February) 2015 set as a target release date.

With a budget of S$3m million (US$2.36 million) the picture is produced by MM2 Entertainment and Neo’s own J-Team company.

The cast includes Tosh Zhang, Wang Weilang, Maxi Lim and Noah Yap.

The film continues the theme of military service initiation and training from the two previous movies and is set in the microcosm of the Naval Diving Unit, Singapore’s equivalent of the U.S. Navy SEALS. “This will be considerably different from ‘Parts I and II’ as much of it will be underwater, which is a first for a Singapore film,” said Neo at a press event in Hong Kong’s FilMart.

“It will also have more regional appeal in Asia.” The film will be shot in Mandarin, English and local dialect.

Producer and MM2 boss Melvyn Ang said that investment and finance was currently not set, but that after the success of “Ah Boys To Men” he does not lack for investment options.

Neo is by far Singapore’s most successful film-maker. He has directed seven of the top ten grossing Singapore-made films and produced two of the other three.
