BUSAN: Yesim Ustaoglu, Pema Tseden Head Asian Project Market Awards

BUSAN — Turkish director Yesim Usataoglu, Vietnam’s Phan Dang Di and China’s Pema Tseden were among the big winners at the close of the Busan Festival’s co-production and finance event, the Asian Project Market.

Phan Dang Di’s “Full Moon Party” collected $20,000 of project funding from the city of Busan for “Full Moon Party.” Using a multi-generational family it tells Vietnamese history and its many recent wars.

Pema Tseden’s “The Killer” collected $30,000 for his “The Killer” from Chinese online video group Youku Tudou and its new film production arm Heyi Film.

Ustaoglu (“Journey To The Sun,” “Waiting For The Clouds”) claimed the $10,000 Creative Director Award for her project “Clair Obscur” being produced by Paris-based Marianne Slot.
