The Thai Night party on Sunday at the Park Hyatt got the royal treatment when Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi spoke to assembled guests in support of the Thai film industry. Both a frequent visitor to the Busan fest, as well as an occasional actor in Thai productions, the Princess spoke knowledgeably about the excellence of Thai sound technology, the popularity of Thailand as a location for foreign shoots and the box office success of the 2013 Thai comedy-horror “Pee Mak.” She also presented plaques to Seum Production CEO Kim Sung-Cheol and “Pee Mak” director Banjong Pisanthanakun for their contributions to the Thai film business. Both accepted the plaques on bended knee from the Princess, seated regally on a throne set up the occasion in the Park Hyatt Ballroom. Following the Princess’ presentation there were performances of traditional Thai music and “Wanna Seize This Moment,” a song from the “Pee Mak” soundtrack. The guests then seized the opportunity to enjoy the Thai buffet, with the line stretching around the room.
