Swizz Beatz and Ex-Wife Sell Shabby Modern Mansion

SELLERS: Swizz Beatz and Mashonda
PRICE: $999,900
SIZE: 14,109 square feet, 8 bedrooms, 6 full and 4 half bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Before Swizz Beatz married Alicia Keys and bought Lenny Kravitz’s duplex penthouse in lower Manhattan he was married to the much less famous, uni-named singer Mashonda and together they owned a 1980s era contemporary in Pomona, NY, that they just sold, we first learned from The Bizzy Boys at Celebrity Address Aerial, for $999,900.

Property records show the Grammy winning musician — née Kasseem Dean — and his ex-wife acquired the semi-suburban spread in March 2005 for $2.7 million; It doesn’t take a mathematics professor to figure out that poor Miz Mashonda and Mister Beatz lost a spine straightening $1.7 million on that deal.

Listing details Your Mama dug up on the internets shows the massive 14,109 square foot modern mansion was built in 1988 on 10.63 sylvan acres that’s almost but not quite butted up against scenic Harriman State Park, about 37 miles north of Midtown Manhattan Listing details go on to show the unoccupied and all but abandoned 18-room residence, which looks too much like a suburban office building for Your Mama’s architectural taste, has eight bedrooms, six full and four half bathrooms, two fireplaces, garage parking for four or more cars, and separate caretaker’s quarters.

Interior spaces include a voluminous, multi-level double-height living area with blond wood floors, massive windows, a fireplace faced with granite or onyx (or something), and at least two statement making staircases, one a melodramatic floating affair in the main living area and another a circular number that leads to unknown areas of the residence.

The estate’s expansive grounds don’t appear in listing photos to be well tended — in fact, they look shabby — but include vast terraces, broad sweeps of lawn and a bevy of recreational amenities that include an indoor racquetball court, an indoor lap pool and an outdoor swimming pool, and tennis and handball courts.

  1. Jim Pease says:

I actually like it too, Chuck. But the site appears to have been horribly neglected judging from the broken concrete block and weeds shown.

  2. Dolores says:

That is an ugly house, this is the wife and house he left for Alicia Keyes. He cheated on the first wife now I’m sure he’s living in much nicer digs.

  3. lil' gay boy says:

Irredeemable; sited high on a hill above the surrounding homes, this literal white elephant looms over its neighbors. The kind of architecture many imitators of architects like Myron Goldfinger did so badly (including, at times, Goldfinger himself).

  4. Chuck Raney says:

I kinda like parts of it. As soon as I get my “Retirement Plan” going, (I am starting a cult-like Church or Non-denominational worship, I can use this for a summer retreat.
