Internet set-top maker Roku has hired Jody Vogelaar, previously VP of distribution marketing at Fox Networks, as VP of global partner marketing.
Vogelaar will oversee Roku’s marketing relationships with both content and consumer-electronics partners. He starts with the company April 29, reporting to chief marketing officer Matthew Anderson, who also hails from News Corp and 21st Century Fox.
At Fox Networks, Vogelaar oversaw more than 100 yearly partner-marketing campaigns with pay-TV providers, connected-device manufacturers and electronic sell-through partners for Fox, FX Networks and National Geographic Channels. Prior to Fox, he led marketing for the launch of digital paid content at the Times and Sunday Times in the U.K., and he has worked at ABC, Disney Interactive Media and CBS’ pay-TV division.
Roku has sold more than 8 million video-player devices to date. The company’s investors include 21st Century Fox, BSkyB, Fidelity Investments, Hearst, Menlo Ventures and Globespan Capital Partners.
