Paramount Digital Entertainment series from Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman to revolve around dorm life

Paramount Digital Entertainment announced comedy series “Resident Advisors,” set in the sex-and-drugs world of college dorm life, exec produced by Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman (producers of “Pitch Perfect”).

Series will star Ryan Hansen (“Two Broke Girls,” “Burning Love”), Jamie Chung (“Hangover” parts two and three, “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”), Andrew Bachelor (“House of Lies”), Graham Rogers (“Revolution”) and Alison Rich and features Anna Camp (“Pitch Perfect”).

Ira Ungerleider (“Friends”) has joined the project as both exec producer and director along with Natalia Anderson, who will produce the series based on a pilot script written by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Alex Reid. Banks and Handelman will exec produce through their Brownstone Prods. banner.

“No subject is off-limits for the talented creators and cast of ‘Resident Advisors’ with its irreverent take on the absurdities of freshmen year at college,” said Amy Powell, president of Paramount Digital Entertainment. “Elizabeth, Max and the team at Brownstone have developed an ambitious and fun comedy that is perfectly suited for this format, and we are thrilled to have it mark our first collaboration with them.”

Banks (pictured above) commented, “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Paramount Digital Entertainment on this outrageously funny take on modern day dorm life in America. Amy and her team have a terrific track record for creating boldly entertaining content in this comedic medium and we look forward to a successful partnership.”

“Resident Advisors” is set in the hormonally overloaded environment of a college dorm, following a group of resident advisors as they navigate sex, drugs and midterms.

Paramount Digital has lined up a distributor for the series but a rep declined to identify it. Viacom’s Paramount Digital Entertainment is the studio behind Hulu’s “The Hotwives of Orlando” and Emmy-nominated series “Burning Love,” which appeared on Yahoo and E!.

Banks and Handelman, through Brownstone Prods., produced “Pitch Perfect” for Universal and are currently in production on “Pitch Perfect 2,” which also is directed by Banks. Their producing credits include Disney’s “The Surrogates” and two upcoming book adaptation projects for Lionsgate, “Heist Society” and “White Girl Problems.”

As an RD, I cringe every time they say the “D” word. Ugghhh! Its not a DORM, it is a RESIDENCE HALL!

  2. Jer says:

Why does this Jamie Chung get roles? She can’t even act…

  3. Chelsea says:

This will be really interesting. I love Elizabeth Banks already and this RA show could go many ways. Being the comedian I am, a former RA, and now a Resident Director *cough cough* this show has a lot of potential. I mean, I would be willing to help out in any way I can!
    Excited to see this happen!

    P.S. It’s a residence hall.

  4. Jon says:

As a former dorm director, correctly called “Resident Director”, who lived in, managed, hired and fired RAs and heard or experienced every possible story and scenario, I should so be called to help write this and have a sense of accuracy! The truth is probably stranger and crazier than the fiction!!
