As the new Netflix highlight reel puts it, the ladies of Litchfield are back with conviction in the second season of “Orange Is the New Black.”
“This is about more than business, ladies. I’m telling you how to survive,” says Lorraine Toussaint’s Vee.
The video depicts some of the most memorable moments from season two, including Piper’s (Taylor Schilling) visit with her family when she learns that her grandmother is dying.
The inmates also find themselves thinking about the world outside the prison gates and all that they have missed out on as Piper laments the loss of her fiancee and ex-girlfriend due to her incarceration.
“I don’t have a home anymore,” Schilling’s character says in the clip.
Showrunner Jenji Kohan’s “Orange Is the New Black,” based on Piper Kerman’s best-selling memoir, was trending well ahead of fellow Netflix series “House of Cards” on Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia in the days leading up to its season two launch on June 6. However, “HoC” outperformed “OITNB” in terms of piracy.
The dramedy took home three Critics Choice trophies, including a nod for Danielle Brooks’ portrayal of Taystee, last week.
The second season of “OITNB” is now streaming on Netflix. The show has already been renewed for a third season.
