Hulu has renewed animated superhero series “The Awesomes” from Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker for a third season, set to return in 2015.

The second season, starring Meyers as superhero Prock, premiered Aug. 4 with new episodes arriving on Hulu every Monday. “The Awesomes” follows the story of what happens to the greatest superhero team in history — after all the most powerful members leave. Season 2 features new characters voiced by Amy Poehler, Will Forte, Maya Rudolph and Kate McKinnon.

“With a growing fan base from season to season and a cast featuring some of the funniest people on television, it was a natural decision for us to renew the show for a third season,” said Beatrice Springborn, who joined Hulu as head of originals in June.

Series was co-created by Meyers, a “Saturday Night Live” alum who is now host of NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” and Shoemaker (a “Late Night” producer).

“The Awesomes” cast also includes Ike Barinholtz, Bill Hader, Taran Killam, Rashida Jones, Paula Pell, Josh Meyers, Kenan Thompson, Bobby Lee, Steve Higgins, Emily Spivey and Bobby Moynihan.

“The Awesomes” is a Hulu co-production with Broadway Video and is executive produced by Meyers, Shoemaker, Broadway Video’s Andrew Singer and Bento Box Entertainment (“Bob’s Burgers”). Bento Box Entertainment also serves as the animator for the series.
