Beatrice Springborn Hulu

Hulu has tapped TV production exec Beatrice Springborn as head of originals, replacing Charlotte Koh, who left the joint venture in April.

Springborn most recently was head of television for Storyline Entertainment, where she developed and produced MTV series “Happyland,” which is slated to premiere this fall. Prior to Storyline, she was SVP at Caryn Mandabach Prods., where she oversaw development of genre and book-based series for the international marketplace. Earlier she was EVP of TV and film production and development at Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Motion Pictures, which produced and developed “The Walking Dead” series for AMC Networks.

“We are confident Beatrice is the perfect fit for Hulu, and the perfect person to spearhead the growth of our originals business,” Hulu SVP and head of content Craig Erwich said in a statement.

Erwich joined Hulu, which is owned by Disney, 21st Century Fox and NBCUniversal, in March. Previously, he was EVP of Warner Bros.’s Warner Horizon Television.

Koh, who had been head of development for Hulu’s original series responsible for series including “Deadbeat” and Seth Meyers’ “The Awesomes,” left Hulu in April after three years.
