Bill Cosby has taken to Twitter this week to thank Whoopi Goldberg and Jill Scott for their cautious remarks amid the controversy over mounting accusations of rape and sexual assault levied against the comedian by more than 20 women.

Goldberg seemed to defend Cosby on the Nov. 17 episode of ABC’s “The View,” or at least give him the benefit of the doubt.

“I hope that there is justice for this lady,” she said at the time. “I hope somebody gets to the bottom of this, but I’m going to reserve my judgment because I have a lot of questions, as I said. It’s crazy, but I have a lot of questions, because I know we all have friends who have gone through this.”

Scott has responded to Twitter users defending Cosby as well, saying the public should wait for proof before condemning him.

Cosby’s accusers continue to come forward, including a new lawsuit that alleges he molested a 15-year-old girl.

  1. IT IS DISTURBING HOW SOME WOMEN DEFEND COSBY SO EASILY. MAY GOD PROTECT THEM : DISPITE THEIR ” JANAY RICE SYNDROME. “

  2. We all have friends who have been through what? I don’t know about you but I don’t have any friends who have been accused of being serial rapists nor do I want any such friends.

I too had a lot of questions when I heard about the first victim but with each victim that comes forward my list of questions is getting smaller and smaller. There’s just too much smoke for there not to be a fire.

It was the same when I heard about Sandusky. When you have someone who is perceived to be upstanding citizen, the first accusation makes you have a lot of questions and deep inside you hope it’s a terrible misunderstanding of some sort but does Whoopi really think that dozens of women – some of whom with very successful careers and nothing to gain – are banding together to accuse an innocent man this many years after the statute of limitations has run out? (Not that you have to have a successful career to be credible in your accusation.)

The real question here should be why is there a statute of limitations on rape in the first place? I’ve often seen cases on Forensic Files where once DNA analysis was invented, very old rape mysteries were suddenly able to be solved. Rape is usually committed by serial offenders so it’s especially important to not let someone escape justice through a statute of limitations loophole. Let there be a court case, go ahead and question the accusers, the accused, and eye witnesses (google Tony Hogue Cosby if you want one eye-witness account) and let the jury decide.

Not allowing a jury to decide is not justice and before you say he’s innocent until proven guilty remember that there’s no opportunity here for him to be proven guilty – all of these women thought theirs was an isolated case and that no one would believe them that’s why they didn’t go to the police. They just wanted to put the trauma in their past and move on. From what I’ve read it’s usually not until a survivor realizes that others may be at risk and that their silence might actually be helping the rapist but others at risk does the survivor speak up.

I sincerely hope that the Cosby allegations cause there to be a change in statute of limitation laws. There’s no statute of limitations for murder, there should be no statute of limitations on rape or sexual assault. If you care about this or need help contact http://www.rainn.org because they are a very good organization helping both female and male rape and abuse survivors.

WHOPPI IS CORRECT IN HER ASSESSMENT. WE ALL ARE SO QUICK TO JUDGE ANOTHER WHEN IT’S NOT AT OUR FRONTDOOR. WE HAVE TWO SIDES OF A STORY AND YET WE WANT TO TAKE ONE SIDE. STRANGE!! WHY IS COSBY SO QUILTY OF RAPE? COULD HE NOT BE GUILTY OF WOMANIZING AND ADULTERY? WHAT KIND OF WOMEN FOLLOW A STRANGER AND TAKE PILLS AND DRINKS, WITH NO HESITATION, FROM A MAN THEY HARDLY KNOW? THEIR MEMORIES ARE SO VIVID OF THE SEDUCTION OF RAPE BY COSBY BUT YET BACK THEN NOT ONE WOULD TELL ANYONE. IS IT BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD WAIT TO SEE HOW RICH HE WOULD GET SO THAT THE SETTLEMENT WOULD BE GREATER? IS IT BECAUSE THEY NOW NEED A FAMOUS MOMENT IN THEIR LIVES BECAUSE IT WOULD BE PROFITABLE? SOME OF THESE WOMEN EVEN SAW COSBY TWICE OR CONTINUED THE COMMUNICATION UNTIL HE MOVED ON. I DON’T UNDERSTAND. RAPE WOULD BE TRAUMATIC TO ME–EITHER I’M IN THE PSYCHO WARD OR I’M AT THE POLICE STATION REPORTING THIS INCIDENT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCIDIENT IF THE RAPIST DIDN’T KILL ME. ALLRED WANTS COSBY TO DENY THE STATUTE BY ADMITTING THESE “ACCUSATIONS” NOW. IF I WAS COSBY, AND IF I WAS GUILTY, I WOULD LIVE OUT MY GUILT AND GO ON AND TRY TO SALVAGE SOME FORGIVENESS FOR MY SOUL. BUT AS FOR THE WOMEN, SHAME ON THEM FOR KEEPING A “SUPPOSED” CRIME, ALLOWING OTHER WOMEN TO BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO SUCH, AND WAITING UNTIL THEY COULD SEEK THEIR OWN GLORY!! SHAME ON THEM!! THEY ARE RAPIST TOO!! THIS SITUATION IS NOT BLACK OR WHITE. IT IS ABOUT WOMEN AND MEN.

It’s funny how blacks like Woopi give Cosby the benefit of a doubt, but immediately say Michael Brown was assasinated.

    • woody LOmono says:

Whoppie needs to get off the air, let Rosie take over at least no one is pulling Rosies chain like Whoppie, She is raciest and defends her black friends. Bill has been doing this so long and his wife what a dum ass to be with him she reminds me of the 50s brides do as your man says shut up cook clean and be there she should be ashamed of herself both of them should do thenselves a favor and jump off the highest mountain.

    • glen moore says:

White Americans are far too racist to be able to judge or comment on this sad subject with any objectivity.

  5. Michael Anthony says:

People ALWAYS stand up for the victim, until the accused is someone they know. Then they become cautious and ask people to wait until the facts are known. The question for them then becomes: If you were a victiim, how would it make you feel for people to doubt you?

Either you are an advocate for victims, or, you are not. Its not dependent on who the accused is.
