‘Star Wars: Commander’ Invades Mobile Phones

Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm have launched “Star Wars: Commander,” a game for mobile devices.

“Commander,” launching on Apple devices first, is a free-to-play combat strategy game in which players choose whether to fight for the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire and lead a force in epic battles.

The game offers an original “Star Wars” storyline with new characters set within the Galactic Civil War of the “Star Wars: Episodes IV” and “VI” movies with players controlling a leader on the front lines.

Those who choose the Rebellion will be able to call upon Han Solo, Chewbacca and Princess Leia to support their missions, while leaders of the evil Imperial forces will command AT-ATs, TIE fighters and Stormtroopers to control the galaxy. In the game, players build and defend a base, deploy armies and vehicles to attack other players and travel to multiple planets to complete missions.

I’m always hesitant when I see “free to play”, has anybody tried this? Is it the standard everything sucks unless you spend money on micro-transactions that seems to ruin most mobile games?

Yes, they obviously cancelled a game in the works by a separate company, that took at least 2 years to make just the E3 demo, to then create a mobile game that probably took less than 8 months.

      That’s obviously the truth.
