CNN Hacked by Syrian Electronic Army

CNN’s social media outlets, including Twitter and Facebook, were briefly hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army late Thursday.

The hacker group, responsible for compromising several press outlets over the last year, typically post content related to the ongoing conflict in Syria.

“Obama Bin Laden the lord of terror is brewing lies that the Syrian state controls Al Qaeda,” the group wrote on CNN’s Twitter and Facebook news feeds.

Another post read: “DON’T FORGET: Al Qaeda is Al CIA da. Funded, armed and controlled.”

The posts were later deleted by the news network, who then tweeted the following statement:

Previous victims of the Syrian Electronic Army include the AP, The Washington Post, President Obama’s official Twitter, and The Onion.
