PBS Hires Sony Pictures’ Scott Nourse to Head Digital Product Development

PBS has recruited Scott Nourse, previously SVP of production operations for Sony Pictures Interactive, to lead the pubcaster’s digital product team.

Nourse, to be based in Arlington, Va., will be in charge of all new digital product development as PBS Digital VP of product development. He reports to PBS Digital SVP and g.m. Ira Rubenstein, a veteran of Sony, 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment who was hired in February.

“Scott’s vision and leadership will supercharge our development of products, enabling PBS and member stations to serve audiences with the kind of high-quality content they have come to expect from PBS,” Rubenstein said in announcing the hire.

At Sony Pictures Interactive, Nourse was responsible for strategic planning and day-to-day operations of production, design, technology and product development in support of the studio’s online and mobile marketing initiatives. Prior to joining Sony Pictures in 2002, he was president of digital ad agency Deeply Superficial Prods. and was executive producer at American Cybercast, an L.A.-based subsidiary of Grey Advertising.

Nourse will start at PBS on July 28. “PBS’s growth in the digital space is exploding and I can’t wait to get started working with this talented team,” he said in a statement.
