Warner in Digital Link Up With India’s Lukup

MUMBAI — Bangalore-based digital content platform Lukup Media has partnered with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution to launch an as-yet-unnamed on-demand channel in India.

The service, which will become available from February, will offer recent hits such as “Gravity” (pictured) and “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” as well as more than 200 films and television series from the Warner library.

The channel will be available via a new product called ‘Lukup Player’ that hooks up to existing set top boxes.

“Providing consumers with more choices and improving the movie experience at home is at the heart of Warner Bros.’ digital strategy,” said Chris Dyde, senior VP, international licensee markets, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group. “With Lukup Media [we] will see a fantastic selection of both new and library movies offered to viewers in India.”

Lukup currently offers a Bollywood hits channel, mainly with titles from the Reliance library, a cookery channel and a TED talk channel.
