Sundance: A24 Acquires ‘Laggies,’ Aims for a Summer Release

Laggies Lynn Shelton

Keira Knightley love story drew interest from several buyers

“Laggies,” the romantic dramedy directed by Lynn Shelton and starring Keira Knightley, was acquired on Sunday morning by A24, which purchased North American rights for about $2 million.

Several other buyers, including Open Road, had expressed interest in the film, which received mostly positive reviews after its Sundance premiere on Friday night. A24 is considering a summer 2014 release.

The quirky love story also co-stars Chloe Grace Moretz and Sam Rockwell. Variety critic Justin Chang called Knightley’s performance “delightfully loose-limbed.”

The deal was finalized by UTA Independent Film Group and CAA. International rights will be handled by the Solution.
