The newly launched production company, which already has a pilot deal with ITV for “Name That Tune” as well as projects in development with AMC, CMT and xBox, will open offices in Los Angeles, London and Atlanta. While Znak&Jones will operate as a distinct company producing programs directly for channels in the U.S. and U.K., Sky will own an equity stake in the outfit, and all finished programming will be distributed by Sky’s international distribution business, Sky Vision.
“The partnership is ideal in that we remain an independent, boutique operation able to best serve our respective broadcaster client needs and, at the same time, have a highly motivated international partner with a global distribution infrastructure necessary to drive a hit show,” said Jones.
“Simon and I have over four decades of experience creating, adapting and launching formats in both the US and UK,” said Znak. “It’s our goal to develop and produce entertainment for both markets that’s big and bold as well as innovative and fresh.”
Znak previously worked as controller of factual entertainment for ITV Studios in London before joining Zodiak USA as CEO. Jones was COO of Syco USA, where he oversaw media operations for Simon Cowell and Sony Music, before serving as CEO of Talpa Media USA.
