Mesa Global is expanding its Los Angeles presence and has tapped veteran banker Kevin Covert as its managing director.
Covert joins Mesa from Covert & Co., an investment bank he founded and oversaw as CEO. He will advise on mergers and acquisitions and raising capital, and will focus primarily on digital media and technology.
Mesa is a merchant bank with a particular focus on media and entertainment companies. It recently assisted in securing $70 million in financing for the fantasy sports gaming company FanDuel, arranged for $50 million in financing for the music publishing and promotion company Spirit Music, and helped negotiate the sale of music streaming service Songza to Google. It has offices in New York and Los Angeles.
Earlier in his career, Covert co-founded Montgomery & Co., where he built its investment banking business and led its technology, media and internet groups.
