Gordon Chan to head film at
FilMart/HKTDC

HONG KONG – Veteran movie-maker Gordon Chan has been appointed head of film at Hong Kong studio Media Asia.

Chan starts with immediate effect, and replaces John Chong, one of the company’s original founders, who departed last year.

Chan, who has a long track record as director and producer has worked in Hong Kong (“Okinawa Rendezvous,” “2000 AD”) mainland China (“Painted Skin”) and the U.S. (“The Medallion”.)

Chan is expected to spearhead an expansion of Media Asia’s film production activities across the Asia region, though not necessarily an increase in production volume.

“Gordon knows the business inside out from both a creative and a business point of view,” said Jeffrey Soong, Media Asia’s CEO. “We expect him to harness the assets that we already have and to co-ordinate with the China market.”

Previous experience as a corporate executive saw him involved at Emperor Motion Pictures, another Hong Kong conglomerate with film interests which straddle Greater China.
