Production and programming execs Eric Tomosunas of Swirl Films and Leslie Glenn Chesloff of UP TV announced Wednesday their launch of Swirl Entertainment Group, a production company designed to focus on providing services for urban content.
Tomosunas founded Swirl Films in 2008 and has since produced more than 40 original productions. Swirl Entertainment Group aims to offer the similar services, including production of independent features and multi-camera content, casting and budget creation, talent relations and securing distribution.
“I am tremendously proud of what I have been able to accomplish at Swirl Films but recognize that taking these efforts to the next level requires additional executive talent and skill sets,” Tomosunas said in a statement.
Swirl Entertainment Group will relocate from Wilmington, N.C., to Atlanta. Tomosunas will be president and head of production while Chesloff will serve as chief executive officer. The company is involved in production and distribution talks with various networks and owners.
“(Tomosunas) has a great ability to select winning projects and a unique eye for bringing in the talent to make them come alive,” said Chesloff in a statement. “I have long harbored a strong desire to become involved in an entrepreneurial situation, and I see Swirl Entertainment Group as the perfect opportunity for me to fulfill this ambition.”
