As part of the pact, Time Warner Cable customers will have access to four new channels: Epix, Epix 2, Epix 3 and Epix Drive-In. To draw attention to the launch, Time Warner Cable will give its digital basic tier customers three months of Epix including its multiplex services, as part of a special introductory offer.
TW Cable’s carriage of Epix came as part of a bigger programming pact reached in December with Viacom. Epix is a joint venture of Viacom, its Paramount Pictures unit, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. and Lionsgate.
“Epix is thrilled to be partnering with Time Warner Cable, a leading distribution partner respected for its high quality suite of products and services,” said Mark Greenberg, president and CEO of Epix, in a prepared statement. “This launch expands our footprint into new markets and provides an exciting opportunity for Epix to bring Hollywood’s biggest films and blockbuster content to Time Warner Cable’s large base of subscribers.”
Epix will be available in high definition, in standard definition, and on Time Warner Cable on Demand; Epix Drive-In will be available in standard definition. Thousands of movies, original documentaries, music and comedy events will be available online and on mobile devices via the Epix app.
