Deal, which was inked with partners David Paperny, Cal Shumiatcher and Audrey Mehler, will see eOne ramp up its activity in unscripted production across North America.
Paperny, which is based in Vancouver, has production operations in Vancouver, Toronto and New York. Its output includes documentaries, docu series, popular reality and lifestyle programs. The company is expected to deliver 80 hours of original programming this year.
Paperny’s recent and returning shows include: “Timber Kings” (HGTV), “Cold Water Cowboys” (Discovery Channel Canada), “Yukon Gold” (History Canada), “Chopped Canada” (Food Network Canada) and “Chow Masters” (Travel Channel in the U.S).
Paperny, Shumiatcher and Mehler all join eOne. Paperny will report to Margaret O’Brien, president, Canada and COO, eOne Television.
eOne recently announced plans to expand its U.S. Alternative division. Since launching the division in 2012, eOne has developed and produced a slate of shows that includes “Mary Mary” (WE tv), “The Sheards” (BET) and “SWV Reunited” (WE tv), and a series of “Big Surprise!” specials on E! Entertainment.
