In the new role, Fragen will help UTA clients navigate the growing number of windows across an expanding distribution universe.
UTA created the role in response to the entertainment industry’s ongoing transition to a ‘content everywhere’ model and the needs of creators to exert more control over their projects through rights separation and direct distribution.
Fragen will work alongside UTA’s existing practice areas to enhance strategies for these client projects, which include internationally and non-traditionally financed television series and IPTV, all forms of digital media, live entertainment and films financed outside of the studio system.
“Alex brings a high level of expertise that our clients can access as we evaluate the best distribution path for the content they have created,” said Jeremy Zimmer, CEO of UTA. “Alex’s long-standing relationships will be helpful as we build the most effective and efficient strategies for self-distribution of non-theatrical content.”
Fragen most recently ran Question Media Group, an entertainment and technology consultancy serving a diverse group of clients including private equity investors, television networks, content creators and technology companies.
