Fox Deportes announced Thursday that media exec Carlos Sanchez will join the Spanish-language sports network as exec VP and general manager.

Sanchez, who has extensive experience in the Hispanic market, will report to Fox Sports regional networks prexy Jeff Krolik.

“Carlos is a talented executive with an impressive track record,” Krolik said in a statement.  “We look forward to his leading FOX Deportes and solidifying the network as the leader in Spanish-language sports television.”

Prior to his move to Fox Deportes, Sanchez served as prexy and general manager of Telemundo WNJU-TV in New York, where he led the station to multiple New York Emmy Awards. Sanchez also oversaw the launches of new weekend and morning newscasts and the upgrading of Telemundo’s facilities.

From 2005 through 2008, Sanchez was VP and general manager of Telemundo stations in Las Vegas and Denver and oversaw the acquisition and integration of the Las Vegas station into the group of stations owned and operated by NBC Universal.

“I’m honored to join Fox Deportes and lead such a talented team of individuals,” said Sanchez.  “I’m excited to contribute to the growth of the company in the Hispanic market and help maintain its position as the leader in the industry.”
