Chase Carey, president and chief operating officer of 21st Century Fox Inc., has extended his contract for another two years, the company confirmed to Variety.
The company submitted a securities filing on Monday that first revealed the extension, which runs through June 30, 2016. Carey does have the option to leave as early as the end of 2015, according to the document, as long as he gives six months’ notice. He has held the position since July 2009.
Throughout the duration of his new contract, his compensation will remain flat. In fiscal 2013, Carey made a total of $27 million, with stock awards of roughly $13 million and a salary of approximately $4 million.
During Fox’s earnings call last month, Carey did allude to the extension, saying, “Rupert and I have a new agreement…and a clear understanding of where we are going.”
