Fox’s ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Bolsters Big Bow With DVR Playback

Fox Upfront Sleepy Hollow

Drama spikes from a 3.5 to a 5.0 in 18-49 demo

Fox drama “Sleepy Hollow,” which bowed with impressive numbers last Monday, also was an especially big gainer in early DVR playback, according to Nielsen.

The new show from 20th Century Fox Television, inspired by the tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horsemen, averaged a 3.5 same-night rating in the adults 18-49 demo to become the net’s biggest fall drama premiere since “Standoff” in 2006. Its premiere then added a big 1.5 ratings points (or 43%) to its total thanks to DVR playback done on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The 5.0 rating puts “Sleepy Hollow” comfortably above the 4.3 achieved earlier this year in Live+3 by both Fox’s “The Following” (from a 3.2 for its same-night rating in January) and CBS’ “Under the Dome” (rising from its premiere same-night score of 3.3 in June).

Two seasons ago, Fox’s top new new dramas in L3 were “Terra Nova” (4.1) and “Alcatraz” (4.0).

“Sleepy Hollow” will face tougher competition for eyeballs on Monday nights starting tomorrow with the premieres of NBC’s “The Voice” and CBS’ comedies.

I love this show! I love everything about it and it seems to just get better! I watch it and record it to watch again! The Voice will just have to wait!

  2. Jaye Batista says:

Only show that made me try to catch TV at the gym was Person of Interest, phenomenal program!! Now I have this and Agents of Shield!!

Love the fact that’s its the same characters from the time period, but brought to the present day! Love the awkwardness of a former British soldier in present day America! Some of the things he has said, hilarious! The chemistry between the two leads, so far, very good!

But I think it’s the added spin of I’ll say biblical proportions is what really blew me away!! Never would have thought that could be applied, but it works!! The demons shown and the one to appear in the third episode are indeed creepy and could give a person nightmares!! Kudos to the design team!!

    Look forward to what unfolds!!
