A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” warmed up for its fifth season Wednesday night by drawing a big audience for the show’s holiday episode.
In the 10 p.m. hour on Wednesday, A&E’s “Duck Dynasty Christmas Special” averaged 8.9 million viewers and a 3.5 rating in adults 18-49 (roughly 4.5 million viewers), according to Nielsen. It was up vs. last year’s special by 21% in the demo and 37% in overall audience.
In 18-49, the Robertson clan was neck and neck with ABC’s “Modern Family” as the top show of the night.
Duck Dynasty” exploded when it kicked off its fourth season in August, with its 11.8 million total viewers the largest audience for a nonfiction series telecast in cable history.
Season 5 of “Duck Dynasty” is set to premiere Jan. 15, with back-to-back half-hour episodes in the 10 o’clock hour.
