PARIS– International Emmy-winning “The Returned,” the supernatural drama sold by Zodiak Rights, has snatched up France’s 10th export prize for drama series, a nod handed out by French promo org TV France Intl..

“The Returned” (pictured above) – sold to over 40 territories including the U.S. (Sundance Channel and  Music Box) — was produced by Caroline Benjo and Jimmy Desmarais at Haut et Court and commissioned by Fabrice de la Patelliere at Canal Plus.

The TV France Intl. awards are voted on by a pool of 12,000 industry players and given to distributors of  bestselling French programs in the drama, animation and documentary categories, based on the volume and type of sales, the broadcasters and platforms sold to, as well as the sales marketing strategy.

“(“The Returned”)’ success shows that being French is now becoming a strength on the international scene. We’re confident this will open the path to much more French innovative content,” said Marc Nowak, managing topper of Zodiak Rights Paris.

The series beat out mystery drama “Agatha Christie” produced by EuropaCorp and sold by France Televisions Distribution, and  the crime drama “Blood Of The Vine” (“Le sang de la vigne”), produced by Telfrance and sold by Newen Distribution.

Zodiak Rights won four times before with the drama series “Braquo” in 2011, “Dolmen” in 2006 and “Saint-Tropez” in 2004 and the animated series “Totally Spies” in 2005.

The other winners of the export awards were “The Jungle Bunch” (“Les as de la jungle: operation banquise”), a toon skein produced by TAT Prods. and sold by brand manager PGS, and two-part historical docu “Apocalypse: Hitler,” repped by France Televisions Distribution.

“Hitler,” the prologue to documentary hit “Apocalypse: The Second World War,” has sold worldwide, including to National Geographic.

Sales to “Jungle Bunch” include Cartoon Network Latin America and Cartoon Network Germany.

Presided by Xavier Gouyou Beauchamps and managed by Mathieu Bejot, TV France Intl. organizes the annual Rendez-Vous mart in Biarritz in September.
