Yellow Bird and Lionsgate TV Ready

Drama is based on a hit Norwegian crime novel

HBO has come on board “Headhunters,” a thriller skein which is being developed by Yellow Bird Ent. and Lionsgate Television with ‘True Blood” scribe Alexander Woo on board.

“Headhunters” is based on the eponymous 2008 book by critically-acclaimed Norwegian crime fiction author Jo Nesbo.

Zodiak Media-owned Yellow Bird Ent. – the company behind “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” trilogy —  brought”Headhunters” to the bigscreen 2011 and it turned out to become the third highest-grossing Norwegian film of all-time.

Carolyn Strauss, whose credits include “Game of Thrones,” will exec produce. Woo is adapting the book for the series and will also exec produce, along with Yellow Bird’s Berna Levin and Marianne Gray and Lionsgate Television.

A dark comic thriller, “Headhunters” centered on a corporate headhunter who becomes the hunted when his life and marriage are suddenly targeted by an unknown individual.

UTA-repped Woo is currently a consulting producer on TNT’s “Legend,” and is writing “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” for HBO Films.

Yellow Bird, which is repped by UTA, recently teamed with Chernin Entertainment to develop the crime novel “The Swede” for 20th Century Fox TV as well as a drama for ABC adapted from Swedish author Liza Marklund with Peter Traugott’s TBD Entertainment.

Nesbo is repped by Niclas Salomonsson.
