'Walking Dead's' Robert Kirkman Developing Exorcism

The Walking Dead” creator and zombie king Robert Kirkman is moving towards a different sector of the horror world, pacting with Fox International Channels for a new scripted series about exorcisms.

Skein will be based on Kirkman’s upcoming comicbook series from set in the world of exorcism. (AMC’s “Walking Dead,” similarly, is based on Kirkman’s comic book version.) Project follows Kyle Barnes, a young man plagued by possession since he was a child. As an adult, he begins a spiritual journey to find answers — but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth.

Kirkman will exec produce the series alongside fellow “Walking Dead” exec producer David Alpert of Circle of Confusion.

Sharon Tal Yguado and the entire team at Fox International Channels have been instrumental in making ‘The Walking Dead’ the worldwide success that it has become,” said Kirkman. “I couldn’t resist the opportunity to continue working with this forward-thinking and extremely talented group.”

Yguado, who serves as exec veep of global scripted programming and original development at FIC, added that Kirkman “possesses an unparalleled talent of telling big concept stories in a smart and incredibly genuine way” and that FIC sees the new project having potential “as a reinvention of the genre.”
