Greenlighting of 'Complications' continues the cabler's relationship with 'Burn Notice' creator Matt Nix

USA has added three drama pilots to its slate: one from “Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix, one from “Hell on Wheels” creators Joe and Tony Gayton, and another from “Warm Bodies” scribe Jonathan Levine.

“Complications” hails from “Burn Notice’s” Nix, and is a gritty medical drama that centers on an ER doctor whose life is transformed when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy’s life and killing one of his attackers. Fox TV Studios will produce the pilot. Nix’s “Burn Notice” wrapped its run on USA last month after seven seasons.

“Novice,” from the Gayton brothers, follows a young man as he enters a life of crime after repeatedly trying to break into corporate America. The Gayton duo will write “Novice,” while 21 Laps/Adelstein’s Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy and Becky Clements will exec produce. New Wave Entertainment’s Matt Ochacher will also exec produce. Fox 21 is producing “Novice.”

Finally, Levine’s “Rush” follows an on-call doctor who is highly discreet, accepts cash-only transactions and parties with the best of them. Fox 21 is producing, with Little Engine’s Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo.

“These pilots illustrate our continued commitment to creating the next evolution of powerful original dramas for which USA is well known,” said Chris McCumber, president of USA Network, “This particular mix of dramas comes from some of the top writers and producers in the industry, each of whom bring a distinct point of view and unique talent for developing high stakes storylines and compelling characters.”
