Drama examines two crimes over one season

TNT has ordered a pilot of scripted drama “Murder in the First” from creators Steven Bochco and Eric Lodal.

Project, from TNT Originals, will center on two high-profile and seemingly unrelated San Francisco murder cases over one season — from the criminal act through trial and conviction.

Bochco has a long history with police dramas, particularly with “Hill Street Blues, “NYPD Blue,” “Cop Rock” and “Brooklyn South.” He will exec produce, while Lodal will pen the pilot and co-exec produce.

The move reps a return for Bochco to TNT, whose dramedy “Raising the Bar” ran on the network for two seasons.

Pilot pickup arrives as the cabler keeps busy on the programming front. On Tuesday, TNT greenlit the formerly titled pilot “King and Maxwell” to series.

Skein, based on characters from author David Baldacci, will star Jon Tenney and Rebecca Romijn as a pair of detectives who are former Secret Service agents.
