Biz makeover series are still hot in reality TV, especially given today’s tumultuous economic climate. TNT has decided to dip its toes into the subgenre, taking a broad approach by greenlighting new series “Save Our Business.”
Program will follow Brit entrepreneur and millionaire Peter Jones as he rehabs struggling American businesses, at times even investing his own money to help a company. Cabler ordered six episodes and will debut them later this year.
“Save Our Business,” from A. Smith & Co., arrives after niche shows centered on the worlds including the hotel, hair and restaurant industries have thrived on cable. Spike is even dipping into the subgenre with “Tattoo Rescue,” slated to bow this year.
CNBC also greenlit its own biz rehab show this week as a part of its unscripted push into the primetime market. “The Big Fix,” from the Hochberg Ebersol Co., follows Marcus Lemonis as he helps rebuild troubled businesses.
“Save Our Business” pickup follows TNT’s greenlighting of “Cold Justice,” a crime reality series from Dick Wolf, earlier this week.
“Save Our Business” is exec produced by Arthur Smith, Frank Sinton and Kent Weed.
