MSO imposes new guidelines for commercials
Time Warner Cable has imposed new restrictions on commercials depicting guns.
The New York-based MSO outlined a policy Friday nixing ads that exhibit either semi-automatic weapons or guns pointed at people.
“If it’s essential to a business owner to show this kind of imagery in their commercials, there are other advertising options in the marketplace,” the TW Cable statement read.
The ban comes as media companies revisit their guidelines in the wake of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., that left 20 children dead.
